Alt TitleThe waterpark that is.

One of my favorite things to do during the summertime is to go to the waterpark. Residents of Southwest Florida are lucky to have great waterparks just a stone's throw away. What better way to cool off and have some fun with friends and family?

So plan a trip to your local waterpark this summer while the sun's hot and water's nice.

Cape Coral's favorite:

Sun Splash Family Waterpark

There's something for everyone at Sun Splash; you can catch your thrills on a 200 foot long slide or chill out in the family pool. There's even something new for those of you who are regulars at the park. You'll find three new slides that plunge five stories: the X-Celerator, the Terror Tube and the Thunder Bump.

You can splash around from 3-7 pm Thursdays and Fridays or from 10 am-5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Starting June 15th they will also be open from 10 am-5 pm Monday to Wednesday until August 23rd.

The cost for Cape Coral residents is $12.95 for 13 and up, $10.95 for kids 3 through 12, and $7.95 for 60+. Kids 2 and under get in for only $3.95. Non-residents can enjoy the park for a few bucks more. If you don't get there until after 2 pm you'll pay a bit less. Season Passes are a great deal if you plan on spending a lot of time there.

Sun Splash Family Waterpark is located at 400 Santa Barbara Blvd in Cape Coral.

If you want to try something different or you're further south, you'll definitely want to hit:

Sun-N-Fun Lagoon in Naples

At Sun-N-Fun you'll find similar water activities with five water slides from 38 feet in the air, a lazy river and four pools designated for different age groups. The park boasts many interactive water features including water dumping buckets, water pistols, fountains, and more.

The Lagoon is open from 10 am-5 pm daily now through August 21st.

Pricing at Sun-N-Fun is based on height. For those taller than 48 inches, you'll pay $12, for children less than 48 inches it's only $5.50, and children 3 and younger are free. Seniors 60 and older get in for $8. If you're a Collier County resident you'll receive $2 off  (but don't forget to bring you Driver's License for proof). Annual passes are also offered to residents for $190 per family.

You'll find it at the North Collier Regional Park, 15000 Livingston Road in Naples.

Call (239) 252-4021 or visit them online at colliergov.net for more info.

So get out there and enjoy the water!
